AUTHOR: PlainID Product Team

The July 2024 release of the Platform includes new features, product enhancements, UI/UX improvements, and bug fixes.

What’s New?

Zscaler ZPA Authorizer

Additional criteria like App Connector and Server Groups are now supported and can be translated into Conditions in the PlainID Platform. These integrations allow users to define and enforce more granular and precise Access Control Policies, enhancing compliance and ensuring more robust security measures.

Microsoft Entra ID (AAD) IDP Authorizer

PlainID now supports Microsoft Entra ID (AAD) for token enrichment flow. This expands our selection of IDP Authorizers, which also includes OKTA and Auth0. This Authorizer supports seamless integration with Entra ID, allowing users to set up custom claims extensions, use PlainID PBAC to enrich user tokens, and streamline the authentication and authorization process.

Product Updates

Policy Authoring Enhancements
Actions have been expanded to allow users to manage the technical values required by integrating Applications while maintaining a business-oriented display name to enhance the Policy Authoring experience. Building Blocks now have Identity Attribute icons, which provide clearer visibility on Dynamic Groups, Rulesets, and Conditions, making it more intuitive.

Enhanced Platform Navigation
The Platform UI has been enhanced for ease of use, better navigation, and improved user experience.

Enhanced Traceability for API Access Control
This feature allows users to incorporate a unique request ID header, enhancing traceability and debugging capabilities for API access flows with PlainID’s API GW Authorizers. With the X-Request-ID, tracking and correlating individual requests across the system becomes easier, providing greater visibility and control over your API interactions.

REST Data Source Error Handling
New REST translator property capabilities have been added to the REST Data Source adapter to manage error handling. These new parameters provide users with greater control over how errors are handled and managed in PIP responses.
With these additions, you can now configure error handling behavior to better suit your Application's requirements, ensuring more robust and reliable interactions with your data sources.

PlainID Private Docker Hub
Following our recent product update message, PlainID has officially transitioned to a private Docker Hub repository to enhance security and compliance. Authentication is now required to access the repository. This applies to all deployment methods including Helm installation, Kubernetes deployment modifications, and PlainID images downloaded for private repositories.

For more information, contact the PlainID Global Services team and refer to the Docker Hub Authentication documentation in our Admin Guide.

Administration Audit Permissions

Environment Viewers can now use Administration Audit Management, a feature previously available only to Environment Administrators.

Policy Authorization Agent (PAA)

This release includes security enhancements for the PAA.
