The September 2024 release of the Platform includes new features, product enhancements, and bug fixes.

What’s New?

Asset Template APIs

Introducing Management APIs for Asset Templates (Asset Types), extending the existing Policy as Code (PaC) capabilities. These APIs enable CRUD operations—such as importing, exporting, and deleting Asset Templates and ensure that changes to the code are tracked and managed efficiently. This empowers organizations to streamline their workflows and scale their Asset Template management in a flexible and programmatic way, aligned with modern development practices.

Key Benefits:

  • Management through API integration enables automating repetitive tasks related to Template details, Asset Attributes, and Action management. It also facilitates CI/CD integration for seamless object migration between Environments. This reduces manual intervention and enhances efficiency.

  • Consistency ensures technical alignment between Template IDs and Display Names. APIs utilize external Template IDs for consistent operations, while Display Names appear in the UI. Template IDs are fully integrated across PaC, PDP, and API configurations, streamlining management and usage.

Snowflake Authorizer
PlainID is excited to announce that users can now manage Snowflake tag masking policies through Policy Orchestration. This solution is designed to discover, map, and manage Policies, simplifying adoption across enterprises with minimal effort. By leveraging this feature, users can enjoy greater business agility while reducing operational costs. Key features include:

  • Streamlining data access to centralize and automate Policy management and reduce the manual effort required to enforce Policies across various systems.

  • Reducing security gaps using a Policy-based Access Control Framework to ensure that Policies are uniformly applied across the company.

  • Increasing visibility and monitoring to track Policy enforcement and identify potential issues or violations.

  • Adapting to evolving requirements to allow quick updates and adjustments to Policies in response to changing business needs, security threats, or regulatory changes.

Ping Authorizer

PlainID now supports Ping Identity for token enrichment, further expanding our range of IDP Authorizers. This integration allows for seamless connectivity with Ping Identity, enabling the configuration of custom claims extensions, leveraging PlainID PBAC to enrich user tokens, and simplifying the overall Authentication and Authorization flows.

Product Updates

PIP Cache Enhancement

The PIP Caching mechanism now has two new properties, Polling Query and Interval Properties, which allow the PIP to continuously attempt refreshing the cache until successful. This enhancement helps avoid data availability issues and ensures that Materialized Views are kept up to date, ensuring data consistency and availability for the Authorization process.

API Mappers

API Mappers have now been enhanced to better manage multiple Asset mappings. This update ensures that relationships between Asset Attribute values are accurately preserved, offering more reliable and consistent data handling across your configurations.

Policy Authorization Agent (PAA)

This release includes security enhancements for the PAA.
